Summary Willow and Wesley have changed since they knew each other in Sunnydale. When Willow goes to re-ensoul Angel, they catch up.
Willow stood at the top of the stairs, walking down towards the team grathered round the desk at the Hyperion. Wesley looked at the woman the young teenager had become. She gave the aura of power, and confidence.
As Willow started speaking, her attention turned to Wesley, she took in his harried, unshaven appearance.
“Oh, and it's the Marlboro Man. Or at least his extra stubbly, mentally unstable, insomniac, first cousin of—for the love of Hecate, somebody stop me.” Willow babbled, looking at the attractive man before her.
I was thinking you had become an adult, it is good to hear that you still have the Scoobie babble,” Wesley smiled.
Willow smiled back, the tired and exhausted Wesley looked younger somehow when he smiled. Even with her gaydar credentials, she could still appreciate a handsome man.
Willow found herself taken up in the tidal wave that was the AI team, standing in Cordelia’s bedroom, and the woman herself helped her catch up with events. Willow was distracted by her thoughts of how Wesley had changed, until, during her conversation, an idea of the best plan to bring Angel back occurred to her. Leaving the room in a hurry, she was delighted to find Wesley downstairs.
Willow started to make her preparations, while Wesley moved towards her at the desk. Laying his shoulders on the counter, he started to talk to Willow
Willow looked at Wesley’s eyes, and saw the darkness within. She wanted to know what was going on with the Angel team, and how the changed to Wes, from the bookish, pompous man she had known in Sunnydale, had become the man she saw now.
”A lot's happened. Not just Angelus. I've been—I've changed. I've seen a darkness in myself. I'm not sure you'd even begin to understand—,” Wesley began
”I flayed a guy alive and tried to destroy the world,” Willow repied
”Oh. So...,” Wesley stood, uncomfortable with the vision this gave him. That shy demure Willow could do such a thing astounded him
”Darkness. Been there,” Willow continued
”Yeah. Well, I never flayed...I had a woman chained in a closet,” Wesley explained, half-heartedly, knowing it really didn’t compare.
“No, dark. That's dark. You've been to a place,” Willow assured.
”You seem exactly the same as when I left. No other major changes I'm not up on?” Wesley questioned.
“No, I think all the major changes have been covered,” Willow answered, not wanting to get into to many details. Her attraction to the new Wesley making her hesitant to mention her sexuality, which she had been confident with until now.
As Willow continued to make arrangements to bring Angel back, she was pleased at the progress. Events happened round her, and too her, but nothing stopped her in her aim. Bringing Angel back was all that was important. Even her bud of attraction to Wesley couldn’t be acted on. After all she had come out as gay, how could she now retract that declaration.
When the events of the evening were complete, and Willow made to go back to Sunnydale, with Faith, she was relieved. Meeting Wesley, and her feelings for him had made her uncomfortable. With a hug to Angel, and a quick kiss on Wesley’s cheek, she departed.
