open_on_sunday prompt decorating #1, #2 & #3
Three drabbles, using the prompt!
Xander was putting the Christmas decorations up. As he festooned the walls with tinsel Anya entered the room.
“Our first Christmas in the new apartment Anya. We can really celebrate together, bet you never did anything like this before?”
Anya looked round the room, noticing the tree and other glittering items around the room. Xander stood, proudly surveying his work, he had spend most of the day making the room look festive.
“Yes, we used to celebrate Christmas while I was a demon. Then, of course we used human intestines instead of tinsel.”
“Too much information Anya, way too much.”
Giles watched the Remembrance parade on the television, and the wreaths of poppies were laid at the memorial, and the men who had served in the forces stood, the survivors of two world wars, looking older, but with sadness in their eyes remembering fallen comrades. Their uniforms showed the medals they had been awarded for their bravery.
He knew that in the war the watchers council were involved in there would be no decorations. Only the sadness each watcher who was assigned a young slayer felt when she ran out of time. When something else was having a good day.
Yet again the bad guys had taken the fight to Buffy’s home, yet again Xander was left to repair the damage. New windows, new doors, plaster work and piping, it was just as well he was working construction. He could get the parts needed to fix the house, and knew people who could do the work. People who owed him a favour, parts that wouldn’t be missed.
Xander surveyed his handiwork. It was looking good, the house was safe again for his lovely girls. With a proud smile he turned to the group. Now was there any point in decorating?
