Summary: Drusilla has a new playmate for her tea party.
Drusilla danced to her own unheard music, moving in a sensual sway, watching the man bound to the bed. His eyes fluttered, and she knew he was about to awaken. She had arranged to have him captured while he was alone, relaxed and off guard, lost in his research. It was going to be fun, watching his reactions to her insight to the future.
Giles opened his eyes.
Pulling at his restraints, he saw Drusilla moving towards him, her slender arms outlining the beat and lilt of a strange, singular music. She was singing a melody to it, accompanying herself with a soft tune, much like a lullaby. Giles listened to her words, and was aware that this was not a lullaby anyone would want a child to hear, as it spoke of blood and death, and listed the various macabre methods by which they would come.
“Oh, Watcher, you're awake. And just in time for tea. Miss Edith will be so pleased, she has so much to tell you.” Drusilla moved towards the teacups.
“Shall I be mummy? Of course I shall, after all, you're all tied up. And we don’t want the game to be over too soon, we're going to have such a lovely conversation with our cake,” Drusilla said, smiling sweetly.
“You can’t even begin to think you'll get away with this, you've doomed yourself. As soon as my slayers track you down, you'll be dust,” Giles scowled at her, as he stated his thoughts.
“Oh, I don't think so, lovely Rupert. You see that's what Miss Edith wants to tell you. The truth about the spell and all the nasty, beastly slayers you activated,” Drusilla placed a cup with tea, milk and sugar on the cabinet beside the bed, then flounced away to the dolls tea set.
“You have nothing I want to hear, you mad vampiress. And as soon as I'm free, I shall dust you slowly myself,” Giles threatened in an angry tone.
“Oh those weak, thin blooded Slayers you and the wicked witch activated won't save you, you're completely on your own." It was hard to tell whether the look on Drusilla's face was sympathy or a twisted, childish glee. "Miss Edith has told me all about the future of your weak slayers. You thought you just had to train them to become as strong as your pet Slayer. No, no, they'll never be so. They are not much stronger than a human, and the most newly risen fledge will take them out.” Drusilla mocked Giles with her hands, miming tearing out throats, as she had done with Kendra.
“You're lying. You're wrong, you have no idea of the forces you are up against,” Giles responded, with conviction.
“But I have more of an idea than you, I saw it in the stream of water, as they fell and were not replaced. You have over a thousand just now, all weak, polluted by raised expectations of being so special, of being the One, of being the Slayer. They are not, and they're being led by men with feet of clay, who are blind to the truth, blind to their weakness,” Drusilla replied.
“They're strong enough to take you down, and they're getting stronger. They are being trained, even without me, they can be all that a Slayer is.” Giles tested the bindings one at a time, looking for some give.
Drusilla laughed, and left him. When she returned, she brought a girl with her, and Giles recognised her as one of the youngest slayers he had in his charge. He felt his heart fall to his stomach, as he looked at the bound figure before him. Horrified, but unable to look away, he watched as Drusilla changed into game face, and bit into her neck, draining the young 14 year old before Giles's eyes.
“Not as strong, you see?" she said with a pout, her lips redder than ever in the dim light. "I have tasted the blood on the One Slayer, my Dark Knight let me taste the Oriental girl. She had strong blood, it made the temple dance before my eyes, with colours mingling into each other. This girl was only a little bit more powerful that any teenage girl. Your slayer line is dying, Watcher, and no more shall they defeat the darkness.” Drusilla let the body fall with disregard, as she hovered over the bound man.
“At night, the moon will light my way, and then I'll know what to do with you. I thought to keep you alive, to let you see the future you have built, for humans, and your precious slayers. Then I thought how I need a new childe, now that you and your tame Slayer with her friends took my Spikey away, and my Daddy, you tainted them with cursed souls. Left them outcasts, left me alone. I thought you should make that up to me.” Drusilla let her fangs drop, as her yellow eyes fixed on Giles. Giles moved as far away from her vampire features as he could with the bindings, he felt the relief when Drusilla made for the door, leaving him.
Giles took careful stock of his surroundings. Still thinking of his escape, he wanted to ensure he knew as much about where he was being held as possible. His heart broke a little when he looked at the body of the young girl on the floor. He was planning to avenge her death, when he heard footsteps, light and dainty, like those of a dancing child - the last thing he ever heard as a human.
For when he next woke up, he himself feasted on the blood of a young slayer, and gave himself over to the dominion of his dark princess.
