Review, Angel: After the Fall, #7

Ok, finally got my comic, so thought I would do a review of it, if anyone is still interested.

Well, Betta really should just have taken off, rather than hang about talking, shouldn't he. Little bit of a hint that he has met Spike before, and that there is a team of slayers in LA. Could be interesting to see where that pans out.

Now the Wesley story line. Throwing in the red herrings as to who the woman was all round the place. Lilah did pretend to be Fred before, and we know she is dead, and still working for Wolfram & Hart. Just like Wesley. I suspect it isn't Lilah, because Wesley threatens to strangle her. When she last appeared, she was wearing a scarf round her neck to cover the slash from where her head was decapitated from her body. Wesley would recognise her, and wouldn't make that mistake.

The hints of Eve and the Garden of Eden. Still not falling for Eve being the one myself. The Senior Partners might make her give Wesley anything he wants, including passion, and yes, when we last saw her she wasn't dead, but that could easily change. I just don't think the female looked like her, or acted like her at all. So will just have to wait and see I guess.

Connor and Kate were good together. Loved that Connor was thinking Kate was flirting with him, and not adverse to the idea. They really didn't cure him of his attraction for older women, did they?

Nice to have Kate turn up to do her thing and save Connor. Ties in nicely with Angel turning up and saving her. And her arsenal looks cool. I was never really keen on Kate in the series, but Brian has yet again written her in such a way that I like her. Telling Connor what Angel said to her, and Connor's reaction "That sounds self-important", was a lovely touch.

Normally I am not keen on comics where a few artists are involved in the one issue. Maybe because it is so dark in this issue, it worked reasonably well. The artwork did blend in, and nothing too jarring. I still do not think that Stephen Mooney quite captures a likeness that well, but it is a comic, and I did know who they were. What more can I ask for.

Rick Runge did a good Wesley. Not so sure about the females. Then he did get Fred's slightly tom-boy figure well. So no real complaints about the artwork.

Overall I enjoyed it, and am looking forward to the next issue.

I also have the Buffy Season Eight comic as well. I was going to wait until the end of the story arc to read them all at on go. That way I might avoid getting annoyed at something and stewing for a month, but I will read it.....Could talk about it in IM later Alex!

Nice review love. I think Brian stated on IDW that it's just a random temptress, rather then any 'real' Angelverse character. It's a shame it wasn't Eve for as you say it fits right in with the imagery.

Thank You Sue! Yes, Eve would've been good with the fig-leaf and serpent, but I can see it being just a random temptress. The place must be full of them!

I really agree with you about Kate, I never liked her in the show, but I really enjoyed her in the comic, and her interaction with Connor, they would make 100% more sense than the Cordelia thing ever did.

Yes, I did like her in this comic, she came over really well! Connor/Kate, well he does like older women!

Great review!

Telling Connor what Angel said to her, and Connor's reaction "That sounds self-important", was a lovely touch.

Oh, yes. It's a moment that brought tears in my eyes. Poignant bookend.

Thank You so much!

Yes I thought the Connor and Kate segment was great! And somewhat overlooked!

Cool review!

I was never really keen on Kate in the series, but Brian has yet again written her in such a way that I like her.
Yes that's true. Comic!Kate seems to be fun, I wonder, if she'll make an appearance in the main series.

Thank You :-)

Yes, I liked Kate in this, she was full of take charge, not oh woe is me! Like she was in the series. This time she could take care of herself!

Great review honey!!

Wesley's story made me cry... it's just so sad. I so desperately want them to have some sort of happy ending or at least to rest in peace.

I loved Kate and Connor!! I really hope we'll see Kate again, it was nice finding out what she's been doing. I'm really excited about Kate!

Thank you honey!

Yes, Wes and Fred deserve a happy ever after, I just cannot see it in this verse!

Kate and Conner were great. She was so concerned with taking care of him, she never even gave a thought that he might be able to do something for himself! Sweet!

Nice review. I agree it would have worked pretty well if the temptress had been Eve. However, Brian's twice said it isn't, and so vehemently that I'm beginning to think maybe it is someone else we know, else why would it matter?

Thank You! Yes Eve would've worked well, but just didn't seem like her to me. Not sure who else it could be really, if not either Eve or Lilah.....Harmony would make no sense at all.
