lady_windermere: Spike profile (comic after the fall)
lady_windermere ([personal profile] lady_windermere) wrote2009-02-03 10:42 am

Disillusioned!

Ok, looking at my fandoms, I'm wondering if I really want anything to do with the fandoms. Or how they are going!

I want Spike to have nothing to do with Season Eight Buffy. I don't trust Dark Horse (or even Joss), with his character. I feel totally no love. My original Spuffy shipper as totally died with the first Buffy comic.

I don't want him in Aftermath either. My ideal would be if IDW gave him his own series, and got him out from either Buffy or Angel's shadow!

..............

Getting a bit worried about Sam Wincester in Supernatural as well. I feel too many fans are after his blood, just waiting to jump on him if he does a foot wrong. Not happy!

.......

Doctor Who! Worried it is in danger of becoming too shippy for my tastes. That would so not be my Doctor.

.....

Which leaves me just looking forward to Torchwood. I know it has it's faults, but.......

Oh well, I guess I should just keep an open mind. As long as people don't rip off the actors (I will defriend in a shot), I guess I will survive. Just might leave the fandoms and enjoy the shows or comic!

On the Spike front, you know that's not going to happen anytime soon. For some reason, they want to focus on Angel. They made that new wartime comic with him, they even are redoing Smile Time. I don't think Spike is ever going to have his own major series, just snippets like Spike: After The Fall, Asylum, and Shadow Puppets.

And on the Sammy front, I think you know maybe he might slip, but it'll be okay because Dean will protect him then in the end, Sam'll probably save all the asses of the angels. Then we'll see who's laughing.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well it will save me buying comics. Only in it for Spike, no Spike=me not buying comic! Not sure that Angel can carry a comic on his own, depends who they surround him with!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Dean was brought out of Hell to stop Sam from what he was doing after Dean died. I cannot see any other reason for them to do it. Dean may have saved lives, but so have other hunters, and I suspect no all of them ended up in Heaven. It was not as if Dean was God fearing before!

[identity profile] kitty-alex.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He's too depressing to carry a comic on his own. Angel always has to have those cheery upbeat characters to lighten the mood.

Yeah, I have a feeling he was too, but that doesn't mean he's actually going to do it. He might be telling Sam that he would to scare him, but I don't think he'd actually go and kill his brother purposely. He has always put Sam before everything else. I don't see why that would change because of a few pissed off angels.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean Dean killing Sam, I meant Dean saving Sam. Like his father wanted him to do

[identity profile] ladypeyton.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
They've been hinting at a showdown betweeen the brothers all season so I agree with your observation.

That still doesn't mean I'm going to turn on Sammy. I'm not sure the angels are as "good" as they should be an I see both Sammy and Dean prevailing at the end of the season.

Or "prevail" as much as the show ever lets them.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, of course it also depends on if they get picked up for another season. Still the viewing figures have been looking good this season, so that might happen.

I think the story arc will be pulled out longer to fit into whatever time they have left to tell the story!

Guess I will just have to wait and see like everyone else.

I'm still a little unsure about the Angels myself.

[identity profile] ladypeyton.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was their second or third best performing show behind Smallville and Gossip Girl. Am I mistaken?

I usually assume it will be back but I could very well be in denial.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it will be back, but no offical annoucement yet. After AtS can never take anything for granted!

[identity profile] ladypeyton.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
After AtS can never take anything for granted!

Hahahaha! Yep! But I'll never learn!

Well we do have to hope of the best!

Fandom can be a crazy-making place, no doubt. But it has its good points too.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Right now, not seeing the good side!

[identity profile] vaeltaa.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you just gotta stay in the Sam friendly comms out there, like [livejournal.com profile] sam_support and [livejournal.com profile] sammyed_away and hope for the best, like I do!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I do already, joined quite a few. Still full of Daan fans. I mean they post icons posts there, and you are lucky to get one Sam and Dean icon, with Sam cropped to ribbons!

[identity profile] kudagirl.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
After reading the first couple of comics of Buffy and Angel, I decided unless it has good stories for Spike I wouldn't bother with them. It's why I have been more into fan fics of Spike. Those tend to treat Spike much better. I live in my own little Spike heaven. I do tend to go for darker Spike stories like [livejournal.com profile] spikes_evilbent writes cause she is a buddy of mine. She makes me hurt for him, but the stories are well written. Hey, plus slash with Spike!

I'm worried about how the new Dr will be written. I'll have to wait and see on it. Torchwood bothers me a little as well. The one character I can't stand is Gwen. Jack and Ianto I adore, but Gwen bugges me no end. Love some Janto. I cried buckets when they offed Owen and Toshiko. I remember Naoko Mori from Absolutely Fabulous which I loved like crazy.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Not even reading any fanfic. When I have the urge to read fanfic I tend to go back to authors, quite a few of whom have left the internet not just fandom, now!

I'm warming to Gwen in the second season. Really disliked her in the first. Loved Tosh, and Burn was one great actor!

Getting a bit worried about Sam Wincester in Supernatural as well. I feel too many fans are after his blood, just waiting to jump on him if he does a foot wrong. Not happy!

Yes, I don't get the Sam hate going on. It seems to me that in fandom's eyes Dean is perfect and Sam, no matter what he does or says or thinks, is doing something wrong. Lately I've been kinda absent on the SPN fandom because of all the wank.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I do tend to stay away from the SPN fandom, mostly. I stick to Sam friendly comms, or try to. They still tend to be full of Dean fans!

[identity profile] aschicca.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok let's see... I have no idea what the comics are about (and I'm proud of it) but by the sound of it.. no, I wouldn't want Spike there either *shakes head*

SPN... I love the show but I'm not into the fandom side of it. But I seriously cannot imagine why would someone be after Sam's blood. I mean, I'm a Dean girl as you know, but I *adore* Sammy and frankly, if you love Dean, you can't not love Sam too! Those two are like one!! And maybe Sam will turn evil, for a moment, but 1) Dean would *never* harm him in any way and 2) Sam's innate goodness will always win imo. Nothing can change that.

Doctor Who... why should it become shippy? Eleven is too young to even be allowed to kiss someone! LOL! Jokes aside... I'm waiting to see but I already know I'll miss Ten *nods*

Torchwood. No bashing on my part because you know I hate bashing. But hon, I have to tell you: you will *never* find a good word about Gwen on my LJ. She seriously bugs me. So she will either be ignored or I'll rant over something she said/did that annoyed me. Sorry...

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Just as well you stayed away from the comics I think!

The SPN fandom is full of wank, and some Dean fans who think to show their loyalty to Dean they should bash Sam. That is why I stay away from it. Apart from a few Sam friendly communities!

Will wait and see with Dr Who!

I really disliked Gwen in Season One, but warmed a bit to her in Season Two! Not a great fan of Gwen, but not as bad as I first thought.

It really is more the actor bashing that gets me angry!

[identity profile] ladypeyton.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly I've been avoiding every fandom including most Spuffy fandom because they all go to extremes I'm not comfortable with.

I'm the type of person to go with the flow of a show (heh rhymes). I give the writers a lot of leeway as long as the show is consistently good (which excludes Smallville and Heroes but I can't seem to top watching them anyway). Moat all fandom spends entirely too much time bitching about storylines and softening the blows of conflict and that ruins my experience.

I stick to reading flist, which is fort he most part full of other people who go with the flow.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, some fandoms can be so full of wank you wonder how much time people have to waste. Just enjoy them for what they are.

I think I should just stick to my flist as well, and not follow any links. *ties hands behind back*

[identity profile] jaded-jamie.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
All fandoms are full of utter and complete d**k heads.

Of obsessive wan***rs who have their own idea of pairings and shippings and blah yada blah.

Of people that cant cope with the reality of cause and effect (NO ANGST! NO ANGST!) in their show as long as their resident hunk looks sexy at least once in the ep.

Full of them.

Which is why I dip my toe in now and then and keep away mostly LOL

Not that I'm bitter.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Fandom is just so full of wank! Why do I bother.....because people post links, even although I am not on a board or a friend of the person, my finger itches to read!

I am a fool to myself!

*hugs*

[identity profile] jaded-jamie.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
hehe I just learned to stay away from the fray and navigate wisely and read no comments left to anything. Cos wank wank wank wank is what fandom is full of. All of them. hehehe

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, sometimes I think some people watch a different show from me! Or can only handle the most shallow of the message, and the deeper ones get lost on them!

Doesn't help that so often I don't agree with the characterisation either!

[identity profile] erin-starlight.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I want none of the ATS crew to have anything to do with BTVS. From what I've seen of the appearances of Angel, Spike and Cordelia there I cringe. I don't really mind Harmony as I never really considered her a Angel character.

I don't know I like Spike being part of Angel Investigations. He fits there so much better than with the Scoobies. There Illyria, Connor, Lorne in the comics and even Angel that he's close to. I want to see more of them. Maybe have Spike on his own for a little while but not too long.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want any of AtS on BtVS either. I want IDW to keep them, and will happily never give Dark Horse another penny! Dislike Dark Horse to what could be called hate!

Yes, Spike fits in far better with AI, and the general tone of the show. BtVS is too young and only concerned with Black and White, with Spike is more a gray character

[identity profile] lcuddywannabe.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Dunno if anyone has said this yet (30 comments!! Blimey!) but have you noticed with Doctor Who that in the classic series, the Doctor doesn't really get involved with anyone. I mean, he shows affection towards his mates and companions, but he doesn't make out with every person he allows on the TARDIS. In the new series, it's like the doctor has become a Time whore and is simply going about, kissing everyone and starting relationships that always end badly.

It IS shippy, you're right. And it's damned annoying. I think Torchwood is a bit shippy too, I mean, with Jack and Ianto and that. I'm not a big Jack/Ianto fan. I like both of the characters and the pairing is obvious and rather boring. That's just my opinion though. Hopefully it will get better and I still have a bit of faith left for Doctor Who when it comes back full force.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-03 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The Old Doctor was pretty much Asexual, he did show affection, but not getting involved in relationships. That is something the new Doctor does, which I'm not keen on. I think it has been overdone already.

With Torchwood, I was ready for it to be shippy, with Jack being there. I fully expected that. So I'm ok with that. There are other things that happen on Torchwood that grate more than shippiness!

[identity profile] exuberantself.livejournal.com 2009-02-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
First: we totally have identical fandoms. Awesome.

Spike: Was always infinitely cooler than Angel. More fun too.

SPN: I felt so bad for him last week! I don't think he's bad, just...young and stupid, maybe. He's still younger now than Dean has ever been for us, and Dean was more than a little stupid in the beginning (well, still is a lot of times...). I'm really excited about the way they're building up the equal and opposite complements between the brothers though.

DW: I loved Rose, don't get me wrong. I adored Rose. I still do. I never got the whole Doctor/Rose thing. I want the Smith's Doctor to be all young and pretty, but behave more like...hmmm...more like Tom Baker, I guess--you know the type, completely and utterly alien, but with more of Eccleston's darkness. This is a completely half-cocked expectation.

TW: Has loads of faults, but damn if it isn't the most awesome thing on. I weep for the loss of Owen (and Tosh), but I have hope for the impending awesome.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-04 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh it is go great we have the same fandoms!

Spike is my man (or vampire), he is the reason I got into fandom in the first place!

With Sam, I feel that he is filled with good intentions, but very misguided at present. That his Ally is a demon is not the best guide for him!

I hate shippy Doctor. Just no! I hope you are right, but Moffet always had a shippy slant in his episodes. They were very good episodes, but had shippiness!

Looking forward to Torchwood. Cannot air soon enough for me!

[identity profile] exuberantself.livejournal.com 2009-02-04 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I know that Moffat's first season episodes were pretty shippy, but "Girl in the Fireplace" was the opposite of truly shippy. I mean, it was cool romantic-y, but he completely jumped ship on Rose to save this random chick. Very Doctor, but not very shippy.

Must. Have. Torchwood.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-04 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think Moffet was a big Rose fan myself. Need to wait and see what happens. And of course with "Blink" there was very little Doctor in that. Maybe he was reacting to the shippiness by doing his own thing.

*live in hope*

[identity profile] siriusslash.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I have to say that after reading some of the posts that you've put forward about the comic books I'm really glad that I didn't invest in them. Sometimes continuing with things just because there is a huge fan interest isn't necessarily a good thing.

As for the fandoms, I mostly just read what people have to say and then move on. Unless there is something that really peeks my interest. I figure everyone is entiltled to what they want. It's just not always what I want :D

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/ 2009-02-06 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. the comics have been a huge disappointment! Stopped buying Buffy, and waiting until the end to read Angel!

I do try to keep away from most of it. I'm able mostly to stay away from fanwank, it is only if it crops up on my flist that I am aware of it!
