Anyway, it was
kazzy_cee's birthday yesterday, so I thought I would do a quick, sweet bit fo Spawn, Dawn is well over age, and set in the future. Spawn is not a ship of mine, so please bare that in mind when reading!

Dedication for
kazzy_cee’s birthday yesterday, sorry I missed it, LJ being a total bugger again! Maybe they should stop adding new things at let us at least be able to get onto the damn thing
Setting Dawn has grown up and is working for the Watchers Council, when reports of two vampires helping slayers in times off need reach her. She recognises the descriptions and goes in search of Spike.
Dawn stood outside the basement apartment in central Kansas, an area of the US she knew nothing about, with no coastline, it was completely different from Sunnydale. Thinking about it, it was probably just as well. She stood at the door and rang the bell, wondering what she would say to Spike, if it was him. The last time she seen him was just before he “died” saving the world.
“Yeah! Oh it’s you Dawn, all grown up as well, you must be what twenty-seven now! Still got it!” Spike said, opening the door for her,
“Oh Spike, it is you. How did you get back, I mean, when did you get back?” Dawn questioned, stepping inside.
“Why do you care? The last conversation I had with you, you threatened to set me on fire in the sunlight. Couldn’t see you giving a damn if I was still around.” Spike said, still hurt.
“That was a long time ago, before, well.” Dawn was lost for words, she had never spoken to Spike since that day, before she knew about the Soul, before he gave his existence up to save the world. Buffy had explained the situation after she came back from the dead, her relationship with Spike, the wrongs the both shared. Afterwards Dawn hadn’t spoken to Xander for a year, then forgave him, sure he was as ignorant to the true events as she was.
Spike stood looking are her, searching her face. He had changed a little in the time they had been apart, he had updated his image, his hair the auburn shade the men seemed to favour now, baggy shirt over some black, low hipped trousers. Dawn felt unsure of her reception, not sure what she had expected seeing Spike for the first time in ten years.
“I heard reports that two vampires have been helping slayers all round America, averting Apocalypse, saving lives. The descriptions fitted Angel and you, so I decided to check it out. Tracked you down to his address. Wanna tell me what is going on Spike?” Dawn eventually explained.
Spike took out a cig, and lit it with his lighter, inhaling deep.
“After we finished with the Senior Partners, Angel and I got out of town. Set ourselves up, using what skills we had from when we were human. I stated to write, and Angel went into art. We both got an agent, the same one as a matter of fact, and when he found out we knew each other, thought it best to work together, writing and doing the art for comic books. It works well, we don’t have to see each other often, mostly to help the poor bits who have been called, not all of them are as strong as your sister, nor do they have the support, you know, friends and family. Have to say some of those watchers they send, don’t know how they got the position!” Spike sat opposite Dawn, challenging her to disagree.
“We where short staffed after the bomb, a lot of slayers, not watcher. I don’t need to tell you this Spike, you were there.” She retorted.
“Not all the potentials where suitable to be called Dawn, some just cannot adjust before the dark forces get to them, and let us not forget Dana, the poor girl. Lost my hands too her, luckily Angel and his crew were at W&H, where they sewed then back on, good as new.” Spike smirked.
“You were there….with Dana….Andrew never said.” With a sob, Dawn threw herself into Spike’s arms, forcing him to wrap his own round her body, to stop her from falling.
“Hey there, Dawn. Hush.” Spike soothed.
“Spike, I…I was in shock, most of the time we faced the First and all of them, I just thought that it was over. Never knew how to tell you I forgave you, and you were so tied up with Buffy, I didn’t think you cared.” Dawn snuggled her head into the nook of Spike’s chest.
“A pet, we were all busy. A lot of harsh words were spoken, and deeds done. To be honest, I was more angry at Giles for not doing everything he could to save Fred, rather than try to get me killed after a while.” Spike stroked Dawn’s back, straight and strong in her womanly years.
“Fred? What happened, how could Giles have helped her?” Dawn tried to compose herself, wondering what the man she admired so much could’ve done to the young woman Willow had spoken about.
“An Old One took over her body, we wanted Willow to come and try and save her, but Giles refused to tell us how to contact her. She is destroyed now, we were told she doesn’t even have a soul.” Spike explained sadly.
“If we had known. I am sure…” Dawn looked into Spike’s eyes and saw the betrayal there.
“They did more, didn’t they Spike.” Dawn stated.
“None of them trusted Angel and his crew when they went to work for W&H, not even Buffy.” Spike clasped they young woman too him, softening the impact of his words for her.
“Spike I….I don’t know what to say.” Dawn sat on the floor, looking at him forlornly.
“Nothing to do with you. Now want to tell me why you are tracking me down?” Spike asked.
“I had to know if it was you, how you are! I missed you so much while I was growing up, the tales you could’ve told me as I was studying to work for the council, you could’ve added so much colour to them, so many details.” Dawn said wistfully.
“So, my beauty, is that what you wanted to tell me?” Spike asked, getting too his feet.
“No Spike, I want to help you, and if I have to, Angel. A lot of slayers are not ready for the calling, what you said was true. They need help at the worsted times. That is what you and Angel do, and that is what I want to do as well.” Dawn asserted.
“Oh bit, you are brave, but I can’t let you do that. Angel and I are vampires with the strength, quick healing and heightened senses, its too dangerous for you.” Spike said in a determined voice.
“I have been trained to fight, I am excellent at research, I could help. Please let me!” Dawn demanded.
“What would your sister say, or Giles or everyone else. You might find some strong resistance to your plan.” Spike smiled.
“I don’t care. I have never been happy since you have been gone, I want to be with you, and whatever you do. If that is saving slayers, then I want in. I am twenty seven now, more than old enough to make my own decisions.” Dawn stated.
“What is it your really want Dawn?” Spike eyed her warily.
“I want to be with you Spike, at your side, helping you. Maybe even more, but that can wait.” Dawn raised an eyebrow in a mimic of himself.
“Oh bit, when could I deny you anything.” Spike gave into the inevitable.
