The government sees to be concerned about British drinking habits, under-age drinking, binge drinking and the growing numbers of problem drinkers in middle-aged men.

I can see why they are worried about a 10-13 year olds drinking, that is shocking for me. That these youngsters could damage their bodies. They are still maturing. They can really cause themselves long term problems.

I think a clamp down on selling or supplying any alchol to underage children should be encouraged. The increased fines for selling drink to them would be good. They need protecting from the harmful effects. Alchol is a drug, even if it is legal.

The idea of putting warnings on the bottles etc.....does anyone take heed of them, or end up with favourite warnings (as I did with the cigerettes). Putting save guides on the bottles.....well really, are they all teatotalers. The problem with drink is that, even if you are drinking socally, you are not always aware of how much you are drinking. The save limits are
2-3 units for a woman (or three SMALL glasses of wine)
3-4 units for a man.

How many of us, hand on heart, can claim we always keep to such limits? And no, you cannot save them up for the weekend. That is per day, even if you didn't drink the day before.

With the middle-aged men, and the rise in problem drinking in that age group, they might have real difficulties changing their attitudes.

That is what the government is going to try and do, change British attitudes to drinking. Advertising, warnings and making it less socially acceptable to be intoxicated.

I do hope they have some impact, but I'm not holding my breath!

Ok, so I caved and got an Insane Journal, oh how I hate the mottos! Anyway, I am here http://users.insanejournal.com/woman_of_/profile.

Or if you have one, please comment with a link and I will add you to my friends.....*sigh*, I never used Greatest Journal, so not sure how much I really needed or wanted this.....I am an LJ addict!

ETA, I mean I had the Greatest Journal for a year and only just got round to adding a banner, and background.....with colours I might change soon. Maybe a blackboard effect! Oh well!

Also these sites all have advertising, so how save are they? If Livejournal and sixapart are caving to the needs of advertisers, they would as well.....wondering if it is worth it!
