They sat, exhausted after the battle, neither could move. The sun was rising, and they both moved into the shadows, with what little protection it could give them.

The souls had taken dominion over them for so long, neither really felt they would achieve redemption, they watched each other, as the dawn broke, feeling the fleeting tinge of darkness give way to a new day. They had defeated the evil one more night, now the humans were free to get on with their lives, safe from the things that go bump in the night, and they survived, to fight again.
