Just mulling over the discussion in "Conversations With Dead People", where Buffy tells Holden about her issues, it would seem she has Superiority and Inferiourity Complexes...an unpleasant and self-centered condition.

Right so she feels Superior from being the chosen one, but inferior to her friends. Ok, so she did state in "Helpless", that is she was not The Slayer, she was a very shallow person. But what does that mean?

Well if she feels superior to her friends, but on the whole an inferior person, then she would treat her friends and family badly....does she. The whole of Season 6, she treats everyone badly not just Spike!

Ok if I carry on, it may become a rant, I really don't want to character bash, just getting my thoughts out.

Anyone for some gift giving fun? Have a look at what [livejournal.com profile] fan_spangle wrote and gave me a mention.....*Blush* Link is here

Well, I'm really not a Buffy shipper (not after season 6 anyway) but maybe she intended she felt superior because she had 'super-powers' while her friends were 'only' human (even if this only proves her friends were very brave to fight demons without particular powers) but inferior because she, being the chosen one, couldn't live a normal life like them...don't know if this makes sense but it's my two cents.

Yes, but in "Helpless" when Willow is trying to comfort her because she is losing her powers, and that she will now be able to lead the normal life she always tells Giles she craves, she then tells Angel that she was a shallow girl before she had the Slayer powers, and that was all that made her special. That she made Cordelia seem like a philosopher.
