Just read about Amber Benson's encounter with a ghost, and was wondering if anyone else had any such stories. If you wanted you could reply to my post, or post your spooky encounters at your lj.

My encounters.

1) After my grandmother died we moved into her home to look after my Uncle who didn't keep in the best of health. The first night we were there, I woke up to see my gran at my bedside, looking sadly down at me, then she disappeared.

2) After my father died, on the day of his funeral, the car smelt of whiskey (his favourite drink), despite the fact that onone in the car had drank any.

3) At Michael's funeral the smoke alarm went on and off for no reason (he was a fireman)

4) The day I was going into Uni to study for my first year exams my fathers voice said to me "We have to go, your mother needs us", I got a phone call later that day to say she died at my sisters.

5) I was woken one night by my mothers scent, and her voice told me "Don't worry, it is nothing to do with you", my nieghbours garden had been vandelised during the night.

Yes there is a theme to mine. Anyone else?

Only a couple.

1) When I was 15, abroad and staying in a hotel. Was brushing my hair in the mirror and I felt rather then saw something taller standing directly behind me. I screamed ran from the room and flat out refused to go back in because I'd felt so ill and screed with it behind me.

2) My friends recently found out her house is haunted and lays on bisected lay lines. Whilst there (before finding out) I awoke from sleep but I couldn't open my eyes. Not because it was impossible but becaue it felt like something was standing over me. For about 5 minutes I felt extremely hot then the feeling faded and I felt like someone placed their hand briefly on my head.

£) On a more recent holiday my friends brother visited her, looking in on my rom since it was usually hers, felt the someone standing over me thing but opened my eyes. Room was pitch black so say nothing but next day she told me out of the blue, she'd seen her brother the night before. When I told her what happened to me, she said it was him.

My friend got good vibes from the last one though, which was good *grins* made her feel ten times better and relieved.

It's good that you had nice experiences, sounds like you've got a few guardian angels :)

They are kinda freaky...

Nothing that weird has really happened to me except for the fact that I always seem to know when someone has died...

1)Our dog just dropped dead - was only off her food that morning and nothing else was wrong with her - but when I was standing outside our house I knew that I would walk in and find her dead - even to the point that I walked around the house to find that my dad had laid her body in its bed on the back lawn.

2) Friend of ours had cancer and wasn't too good at all but there was no warning for anyone. She went into hospital that morning for tests and the doc told her that she would not walk again - she replied "well i'm fucked" and was dead by 8pm that evening. I was out at the cinema and saw I had a missed call off my mum - which as I was at a late show could have been - have you got keys or somat like that - but I knew without a doubt that our friend was dead. I even said it to the ppl I was with - and I wish I hadn't been right.

3) Wouldn't go in my room one day when I had come home from school as was sure my hamster had died - my mum thought I was being stupid but I wouldn't go in or open the door. Dad went in when he was home and she was dead - he said that she had died seemingly suddenly as she was in the process of crawling out of her bed.

Now am sad....

I sometimes get dreams that tell me people are ill, and I should get in touch with them. I have known people have died before being told before as well.

My sister and I each had a visit from a grandmother on the 10th anniversary of her death. We were each in different places and she said our names in our ears. It was her voice. My 2 sisters have each had the same dream about our dad. He came to them and amde them feel better about stuff going on in their life. They said it was like a vivid movie, like no other dream? they've ever had and woke up feeling very peaceful and sure he was ok.

Ohhhh, your entry gave me shivers. Guess I'm not strong enough to see ghosts, but I believe they appear to living people.

Too many to tell, pal. My mother's a realtor, and she doesn't approve of my "nonsense," but when she had a big sale about to fall through because of a haunting, she had no problem sending me (Ye Olde Witch!) out to do a "house cleansing." It was successful, the new homeowner was satisfied, and my mother and I never spoke of it again.

Haunted houses have never scared me, the ones I lived in and the place I worked that where famed for being haunted just seemed to have the rep. Didn't get any indications of anything unsettling in any of them. Seem to be more to do with age, and if something bad happened in them.

One time, during a particularly stressful time in my life in which my mother had almost died during heart surgery, I felt someone in the room with me while I was sleeping. I sat up and saw my grandmother, my mother's mother who had died 10 years earlier, standing at the bedroom door watching me. Nothing spooky like, but it was just as if she were checking in on a sleeping child. I waved at her and she nodded and walked away.

I think she was checking on me when I was scared that I would be without my mother soon.

Yes your experience seems more like mine, kinda comforting in a way, like someone on the other side cared.
