Just mulling over feedback, and when we get lots, then hardly any. Ok a lot if it might be to do with our pairings, some, such as Spangel, being more popular than others.

I would guess that only about 20% of people who read a fic, or look at a manip, icon, banner leave feedback. It may seem, with less feedback that the fandom is dying, but I just do not believe this at all. The fandom is alive and strong, just that a high percentage of people are lurkers. Whither that is because they do not have the confidence to leave feedback, do not like what they have read/seen, or have read/seen some of our work, and don't like it and never venture to give it another go, only they would know.

It took me quite some time to leave feedback when I first entered into the fandom, and read fanfic. At that time I read Spuffy, and some of the writers had such a superiour attitude when replying to feedback, I stopped for a while. I only started again when I read Spangel, and the replies to my feedback were so nice I contunued to give more feedback.

Even getting a rec doesn't mean you get lots of feedback either. I have been reced, and only got about two items of feedback from it, or none at all. While I love gettting a rec, I do not look forward to lots of feedback from it, otherwise I would be disappointed.

Feedback is a funny thing, sometimes you get lots, others hardly any. Not something to be counted on, and certainly doesn't indicate the strengh of the fandom. There are a lot of quiet people out there, busy reading, looking at artwork, but not saying anything.
