I ended up watching/listening to more TV tonight with David here than usual. "Dr Who", "The Culture Show" and "Seven Ages of Rock".

"Seven Ages of Rock" just blew me away with fantastic music. It focused on Jimi Hendrix.....Just Wow!

So music from Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Blues Legends, and The Beatles. Not forgetting Bob Dylan. Wow I wish I had burned off a copy!

The Star Spangled Banner covered by Hendrix, the whole feel of the mid to late sixties. Energy, creativeness, originality, all there. Mind still back at those days (I was from 0-9 in the sixties), when I watched the news astounded and mismerised at what was going on.

The great (or were they), gigs. Such talent. Then the Bad Company song "Shooting Star" went though my head. Jimi was a Shooting Star, who paid the price. Like many of them did. Interviews with Eric Clapton, Pete Townstead and Keith Richards....this made my night.

Just Wow, my head if full of great music now! 60's music I love you, where has the fire and energy gone.

My father was a good guitar player, and a huge fan of Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. I think he never recovered from seeing Hendrix live in a club in England :)

I grew up listening to the Yardbirds, Cream, Hendrix, Jeff Beck... Makes me think of the episode in BtVS (Candy Band?) when Giles listens to "Disraeli Gears": I loved that scene :)

Y'know, when I hear the rap music my son listens to exclusively, I can't help but think that it all sounds pretty much the same. And it just doesn't have the fire of the 60's-ore-disco 70's music. BTW, if you're interested, I've been trying to clean out my computer a bit by backing up my files, and while I was doing so I uploaded a bunch of music (with still more to go) so if you're interested, you might want to check out the last few posts at my LJ. (And keep checking back, 'cause I have lots more waiting to be backed up. *g*)

Modern music does nothing for me, just doesn't have the *fire*

Will look out for your posts! Sounds great!
