peasant_ has started a Metathon at buffyversemeta, so if you have any Meta suggestions you would like someone to discuss, pop over. The rules are quite simple

Welcome to buffyversemeta. The aim of this community is to get more meta essays about the Buffyverse posted and so we can all enjoy discussing the ideas raised.

The Metathon will work as follows:

Week 1: people post ideas for subjects for meta essays.
Week 2: members sign up and commit to post an essay on a particular subject on a particular date.
July 2007: The essays are posted here.

I'm trying to decide what essay idea to enter and if I have the time to do this. I'm thinking about whether or not the season 8 recons are need, and ATS beliefs vs. BTVS beliefs.

Yes, they could be good, could see the Season 8 stuff getting a lot of comments, but might be controversal....still no reason it couldn't be a good point. Get idea's into the melting pot!

Yeah I was thinking that or maybe what else could have been reconned that was "needed" more. I have to write down all of these ideas before I forget. If I can't do it then someone else can.

Reconning Canon, Are the recons in season 8 needed? If not when do recons work and what should have been reconned instead?

And: Perfect Happiness: What does it take for Angel to achieve this? (And this is not meant to be a shipper essay.)

Thanks. I guess there's no word limit but it doesn't look like I'll get to pick any of my choices as it's one essay choice taken per writer. And I don't think I'll be quick enough on the 18th to pick it.

Oh no, it is not that one! I will look through my books before I make a final decision, might do the gender one! (the sex and the Slayer book might help)

lol! Well I'm just worried that someone who is a bangel fan will get it and not mention the importance of Cordelia/Angel, Connor, his friends and the mission. But I would trust you. I have other choices now that I just added:

Not a Coward: How Lornes' peaceful ways make him different from the rest of the BTVS/ATS universe.

Pregnancy equals death: exploring how the women of Angel (Darla, Fred, Cordelia) die while expecting a new life. Is there a hidden message there?

Dealing or not dealing with the issue of rape: was the subject of rape dealt with better or worse for certain characters (Buffy, Spike, Willow, Tara, Cordelia w/Jasmine, etc.) and what does this say about the women power message?

Did Buffy make the right call: Was it right or wrong to make an army of slayers? Dicussing the fallout and Buffys' own desires for a normal life.

Some of them are touchy subjects though.

I think she said something about you have to answer the replies when needed and ask for assitance if it gets out of hand. It just bothered me that the Buffy/Spike thing is talked about but Tara/Willow just get back together without more of an effort of Willow's part and of course Cordelias' treatment.
