I wrote this yesterday, but thought I had spammed my lj enough for one day, with four posts! So posting it today!

For the [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday prompt Tie

Spike stood reflecting on his life.

As a human he was tied to his dying mother’s apron strings.

As a vampire he was tied to Drusilla, and had been her companion for over one hundred years.

As a chipped vampire he had tied himself to the Slayer, getting a soul for her, and burning up at the Hellmouth to save her and humanity.

Now he was tied to Angel, and his fight against the Senior Partners. He had never been his own man. With no idea if he would survive, he vowed to be his own man if he did.

Now off to nurse my poor sore body! I ache!

very sweet my dear,
it would be nice if he could be his own man.

Yes, he is always tied to someone else, would love to see him doing his own thing (think that is why I love Spike:Aslyum so much).

same,
even if he is thinking 'what would Angel do?' all the time.
But that was cute since he would never tell Angel that.

He He, yes what would Angel do, so I can do the opposite! And it worked beautifully!

So true... he's always been tied to someone his entire existence. I'd love for him to be his own man but I have to admit I also love his caring nature, the way he's always *there* when someone needs him. It's *so* Spike :)

*gives you a massage* Sorry you're sore honey!

Yes, his caring is such a wonderful characteristic, makes a lot of the things he does forgivable!

I think I was influenced my Spike:Asylum, where even when he is his own man, when it came to anyone hurting Beck, he overcame anything to protect her!

Thank You, feel a bit better now *snuggles*

Beautiful, sweetie, and so true to Spike!
Spike always torn between standing up to be himself and defining himself through others...

You rock, honey :)

Lovely bittersweet drabble. I want him to be his own man too but at the same time I think he needs people. (And the spangel in me thinks he needs Angel.)

Oh I think something about Spike will always attract people, even if they fight against it. He might not be their favouite person, but they could never kill him themselves. He is a suvivor

That's my boy - that is exactly my Spike from Ten Years After - finally being his own man. Good stuff!
