Been checking out some things on LJ, and the_jossverse has a Darla round this time....well it has Xander from BtVS and Darla from AtS. But it is one of these ones that gets voted on.....you know I am nervous about that!

Anyway I wrote this for Darla round....a double drabble.....200 words.

Why Darla came back during "Inside, Out"

Darla had never killed as a human. Oh yes, as a vampire she had been the bringer of death to many humans, but never in life. Some might even say she was an immoral human. Taking money for sex. But then, for a woman to make her way on an independent path, what choices did she have?

She knew her son's soul was pure. Had she not shared it, staked herself to give him life? Even as a vampire, she could sense the total innocence of his soul, it over rode her own sense of survival, so she staked herself. Now she knew that someone wanted to condemn him to take a human life. An innocent virgin he had saved from death. It had him under its influence, telling him his unborn baby needed this. Appealing to his paternal instincts to protect his child. Darla knew better, she could sense the child was not natural, that the woman was possessed. Then she got her chance to save her son from taking a human life.

What mother would not do what she had to do, to save her child. Darla took the chance to deter Connor. Her appearance was in vain.

So what do you think? Out of character? Needs a beta? Just forget it?

I think it's sad and beautiful and that you really captured Darla's voice.
I was always curious about who sent her to Connor that day, was it the powers or did she find a way to go to him? And was it really Darla?
Anyway, what I meant to say is that I think the drabble is wonderful. :)
