The Los Angeles Times has an article on the writers getting back to work after the strike, and how it will effect the up-coming pilot season here
It says about Dollhouse:-
"Gary Newman, chairman of 20th Century Fox Television, said the studio's development staff was in touch with its writers.
"We're not giving people hard-and-fast deadlines," he said. "We're just making them aware of the competitive advantage they'll get if they're able to turn their script in sooner rather than later."
Newman estimated that his studio had 50 to 60 pilot scripts in the works, including one from popular TV producer Joss Whedon, whose new Fox series, "Dollhouse," was ordered from a pitch two weeks before the strike began. Whedon is now busy writing both the pilot script and scenes for auditions."
So if Joss is busy working on Dollhouse, what, if any, effect would it have on the comics. Really "After the Fall" should carry on with Brian Lynch doing the writing. Joss has had his input in plotting it out with Brian, so, unless one of them come up with a brilliant new idea to use, it should be uneffected.
That leaves Buffy Season Eight. Of course Buffy always had other writers involved, and, as long as Joss has the guidelines about where he wants the comic to go, might have very little inpact at all. Or it could mean that they use more writers. It would be a shame if it meant the comic came out infrequently, as, at 40 issues, it is already a long undertaking. Missed months would be a blow to those of us following it!

Date: 2008-02-15 01:05 pm (UTC)Just have to wait as see what is going to happen, but, yes, I think Joss will be giving Dollhouse the most effort. The comics are established now, so he could bring in other writers.

Date: 2008-02-15 01:17 pm (UTC)You just gotta know where to look... ;-) I haven't had to wait for a show to come on over here for years now, and the quality is almost invariably better than it was back when I used to tape shows on VHS.
Besides, on the 7 episode thing - I don't think Joss is going to get a better deal than this one, at least not from network TV, and at least not this long after his last series got cancelled. It's already a much better deal than most other new series get. If he's even remotely interested in making TV anymore, this is a godsend.

Date: 2008-02-15 01:26 pm (UTC)Yes, after all Angel and Firefly both got cancelled, so this deal is sounding good. I hope Fox gives it a chance, and it gets extended after the pilot season. Will be good to have a Joss programme back.

Date: 2008-02-15 08:53 pm (UTC)Anyway, for new TV episodes I use this one: http://www.eztv.it/frontpage.php Most US and British TV shows are available within a few hours of being aired, and usually in hi def.
For older episodes and entire seasons, I use this one: http://isohunt.com/
Also, http://thepiratebay.org/ is useful for all sorts of things (movies, music, software...) If you're unfamiliar with the torrent format that all these sites use, they've got a good tutorial here (http://thepiratebay.org/help).
Hope that helps!

Date: 2008-02-15 01:09 pm (UTC)On the upside, recent interviews with Joss have emphasised that he's got the number of issues in Season 8 tied down exactly - 40 rather than "about 40 to 50" - and he's plotted out pretty much exactly what's going to happen to whom and when. So if he has to hand it over to other writers, I think it would fall into place pretty nicely without too much disruption. Touch wood...

Date: 2008-02-15 01:19 pm (UTC)With Season Eight, as long as Joss has it plotted out, I he has the skills to guide other writers to get the message across that he wants. I would hope that it would carry on with very little change.

Date: 2008-02-15 01:18 pm (UTC)Still, he's had lots o time lately to get the comics plotted out. It would be foolish of him to abandon that fanbase.
I'm interested in the notice/reaction the Buffy cast reunion will get from the networks.
Hope is a dangerous thing....

Date: 2008-02-15 01:29 pm (UTC)I'm divided about Dollhouse. On one hand, I hope he does it (and it doesn't get cancelled) because it is a Joss show, and even the worst Joss show so far has been at least entertaining. On the other, I'm worried that I'm going to hate it because the rumours about the storyline so far make it sound like Pretender with Boobies, plus Eliza Dushku
can't actis my least favourite Jossverse actor. As for the comics... I have reached the state of paralysed with not caring (stopped reading after the Faith arc).

Date: 2008-02-15 01:40 pm (UTC)I haven't really liked what I have heard about Dollhouse, to me it sounded quite abusive, but would have to wait as see where he is going with it. I often find I don't like the sound of things, but somehow a really good writer can make it work. I don't mind Eliza Dushku, just sometimes when she does her Christian talks in interviews, I switch off.
