Angel Drabble

I posted this at a_darker_angel for girlpire as a thank you for letting me print her winning picture and give to a friend as a gift. I thought I would post it here as well.



The humans slept in the hotel. Gunn and Fred shared his living space, almost childlike in their trust for him. He sat and pondered how safe they would feel around him if they only knew how close his demon was.

The only thing that saved them was his soul. They never questioned his relish to get into a fight, how quickly his demon made an appearance at those times. Yellow eyes, ridges on his face and fanged teeth.

They slayed his kind; yet trusted him. His soul allowed him to live with humans. If they only knew it was paper thin, the barrier between Angel and Angelus.

Wes knew, had he not given him his arm, his own human blood, when he brought him out of the ocean. A kick start to his metabolism. Then Wes did not trust him. He believed he would harm his son, had tried to protect the human child, and Angel's enemies had been able to use that.

The demon within, his strength and weakness in one.


It is Angel only, set during season 4.
