Well a typical with Bank Holiday Weekend, LJ has been quiet, so I have been lurking round the messageboards to see what is being said about the comics. Yes I even fortified myself with a cup of coffee and ventured into the Dark Horse Buffy one.

There is a lot of speculation about Twilight. Such as why is this Big Bad such a mystery, and who is he. I have seen this already, and heard the rumours about Riley, Celeb, but Giles was a new one on me. Not sure I think he is any of them to be honest. I think they are just playing with the readers, cos after all speculation keeps things interesting.

Oh yes, we had Buffy use the same move he did on Celeb when she halved him in to = Celeb, and then there was the itchy neck = Riley, not really sure where Giles comes into it myself.

If we are waiting for the return of some Big Bad from the television series, then neither Riley or Giles make any sense. They were never Big Bads. Quite the opposite in fact. If the Big Bad who returned was indeed Warren (who would only be a Big Bad to Joss in my book), then we do not need to know who he is, or off him already. He could've been observing Buffy and Co for some time, and know her moves that way.

Anyway, I am not sure I really care to be honest, and, yes waiting for each new issue for such a long period of time, especially with arcs which branch off, leaving the main arc unattended for months, doesn't help.

I keep thinking I will stop buying the Buffy comic, but then I continue to do so. Mainly I will keep buying to see the next arc with Fray. I want to know how Buffy and Fray interact. They are now the only two Slayers how have been the chosen one on their own. Even Faith was not a lone Slayer, as Buffy was alive.

So yes, they are still temping me with what I hope will be a good story arc. But I think they are on their last legs as far as I'm concerned if the Fray arc doesn't capture me!

Now off to enjoy the sunshine....WOW another Bank Holiday, with blue skies, Sun and Warm. No rain! Have we moved?

Bank Holiday Weekend

Do you Brits EVER work? :-)

we had Buffy use the same move he did on Celeb when she halved him

I still say that the original Buffyverse villain who would absolutely know and remember that move is Angelus. Remember how the fight in "Innocence" ended...? *winces and crosses legs*

I work on Bank Holidays - even though I work in a bank! I'm not at work today but only coincidentally as I'm on my regular 5 nights off.

As little as we can get away with :-)

I can see Angelus, after all in Angel: After the Fall, Angel is human now, so that could be where his demon has gone! ;-)

Wouldn't make any less sense than some of the other, ahem, plot developments in the comics... hell, after Willow and VampWillow, and Scruffy!Xander and Suave!Xander, it would even be pretty normal by Buffyverse standards.

Faith was the Lone Slayer for 147 days. Of course she was in jail at the time, wasn't really in a position to act as the Lone Slayer, and didn't even know that Buffy was dead.

Hm, if any of those three, Riley would make most sense to me. He always had a dislike for magic and if maybe Sam was killed (and they where after all a happy couple, so it's very likely)it could turn into a fury.

I'm looking forward to see the Buffy/Fray interaction too

True, but I wonder where he is getting the power from. Of course he could be back on the drugs he was on in Season 4, I guess.

I'm really hoping the Buffy and Fray interaction will be great. I really really do!

Oh that's easy - he's 'The Doctor' from AYW. Or rather, he set the whole thing up... since then he's just become more ambitious. >:)

ETA: He got the power initially from those shamans in South America. Now he wants to take over the world with thinking coffee makers!

Well it *is* an odd name - there are plenty of fics that propose that 'The Doctor' is just a codename for The Trio. What with them being DW fans and all.

Squee! *loves icon*

You know, the more I think about it, the more I can see Twilight being The Master (from Doctor Who) - a re-generated Master of course, who's given himself super powers. It's a far better fit than any of the other options!

I followed this link earlier on, and apparently Jeanty confirmed that Rene really was DEAD dead. It amused me to see some of the comments, all 'Of *course* she's dead, how couldn't she be?', considering the Warren-retcon. Rene just got stabbed - he got shot, flayed and burned, and *he* is doing just fine, apparently. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Rene turned up again - possibly evil. Oooh or a vampire! That'd be neat. ;)

(It's quite extraordinary how much I don't care about this thing.)

ETA: That said, I didn't look at the spoilery pages. I'd rather wait.

I didn't look at the spoiler pages either. Must say quite a lot of talk about Dracula. Not sure that I care if Renee is dead, these original comic characters are not capturing me at all. So not really invested in them whither they live or die!

Must say quite a lot of talk about Dracula.
So I saw as I skimmed. The Dracula thing never fails to make my brain go into pure freefall - every time I try to say to myself 'After Chosen Xander went to stay with Dracula to get over the loss of Anya' my grey matter curls up into tiny balls of hysterical laughter. It just Does Not Compute!

I'm totally mystified by it as well. Xander, well known vampire hater, goes to Dracula, well known vampire, for comfort after Anya dies! Nope, not making any sense. No sense at all!

As much as I'd love to see Riley back, I wouldn't want him to be Twilight. I'd see that as being extremely OOC.

Also, I don't get why people keep saying Riley had a dislike for magic. I don't recall him ever saying or indicating such a thing.

Connor's the one who disliked magic so much.

So I'm hoping it's not Riley, if only because he's the only one who had a happy ending.

*crosses arms*

(and if they're gonna leave Lindsey dead, then they should leave Riley the hell alone.)

I really hope they don't bring Riley back a well, but it is the sort of thing Joss would do. I was never keen on Riley, and quite a few others feel the same, so just the character he would bring back!

I loved Riley and don't really get why he's so disliked.

Didn't mind Kennedy, I had other potentials I disliked more, I was not keen on Eve myself, then I was not all that keen on a lot of the lesser characters. That just seemed par for the course for me!

For me, I prefered AtS, but not keen on quite a few of the lesser characters (well until Brian does them), such as Kate, Eve, Nina. Didn't think they were well done at all. Which, as they are all female, surprises me. The males seemed to be done better.

I preferred Ats too and I agree with you on Nina. She weren't written well at all. OTOH, in the case of Eve, I think the Sarah Thompson was miscast in the role.

I thought Kate was written well. We always knew what her motives were at any given time and I thought her storyline had been pretty much played out...although I'm glad we now know at least something about what happened to her.

Hmm, the women of Ats.

I liked Fred but I loved Illyria.

Both loved and hated Darla, same with Lilah.

Positively loathed Cordelia.

I would love to find out more of Gwen's story and I found Anne/Chantrelle interesting and would also love to find out what happened to Drusilla.

For me, Kate's story went on too long, they could've written her out a few episodes before they did!

I liked Fred but I loved Illyria.
I liked Fred as well, at least after she got over her crush on Angel. I can see Illyria being very important, and could incorporate more Fred in the comic. Which seems to be happening!

Both loved and hated Darla, same with Lilah.
I think they both played the bitches well. They were always enjoyable to watch.

Positively loathed Cordelia.
I hated what they did with Cordelia in season four. I liked her, and thought they ruined her character. I do not want her to come back still, I think they gave her a wonderful send off in Your Welcome

I would love to find out more of Gwen's story and I found Anne/Chantrelle interesting and would also love to find out what happened to Drusilla.
They were all intersting characters, with a lot of story to tell.

I'd prefer it if they kept their grubby little hands off Drusilla! She's the only vampire in both series who was never chipped/souled/tamed or killed - and I like to think of her and Miss Edith having adventures all over the world!
