This and That

Well a typical with Bank Holiday Weekend, LJ has been quiet, so I have been lurking round the messageboards to see what is being said about the comics. Yes I even fortified myself with a cup of coffee and ventured into the Dark Horse Buffy one.
There is a lot of speculation about Twilight. Such as why is this Big Bad such a mystery, and who is he. I have seen this already, and heard the rumours about Riley, Celeb, but Giles was a new one on me. Not sure I think he is any of them to be honest. I think they are just playing with the readers, cos after all speculation keeps things interesting.
Oh yes, we had Buffy use the same move he did on Celeb when she halved him in to = Celeb, and then there was the itchy neck = Riley, not really sure where Giles comes into it myself.
If we are waiting for the return of some Big Bad from the television series, then neither Riley or Giles make any sense. They were never Big Bads. Quite the opposite in fact. If the Big Bad who returned was indeed Warren (who would only be a Big Bad to Joss in my book), then we do not need to know who he is, or off him already. He could've been observing Buffy and Co for some time, and know her moves that way.
Anyway, I am not sure I really care to be honest, and, yes waiting for each new issue for such a long period of time, especially with arcs which branch off, leaving the main arc unattended for months, doesn't help.
I keep thinking I will stop buying the Buffy comic, but then I continue to do so. Mainly I will keep buying to see the next arc with Fray. I want to know how Buffy and Fray interact. They are now the only two Slayers how have been the chosen one on their own. Even Faith was not a lone Slayer, as Buffy was alive.
So yes, they are still temping me with what I hope will be a good story arc. But I think they are on their last legs as far as I'm concerned if the Fray arc doesn't capture me!
Now off to enjoy the sunshine....WOW another Bank Holiday, with blue skies, Sun and Warm. No rain! Have we moved?

I still say that the original Buffyverse villain who would absolutely know and remember that move is Angelus. Remember how the fight in "Innocence" ended...? *winces and crosses legs*

Date: 2008-05-26 02:53 pm (UTC)Wouldn't make any less sense than some of the other, ahem, plot developments in the comics... hell, after Willow and VampWillow, and Scruffy!Xander and Suave!Xander, it would even be pretty normal by Buffyverse standards.

Date: 2008-05-26 04:05 pm (UTC)Oh that's easy - he's 'The Doctor' from AYW. Or rather, he set the whole thing up... since then he's just become more ambitious. >:)
ETA: He got the power initially from those shamans in South America. Now he wants to take over the world with thinking coffee makers!

Date: 2008-05-26 04:12 pm (UTC)I have been watching so much Dr Who, it took a minute for me to remember "The Doctor"!

Date: 2008-05-26 04:19 pm (UTC)Well it *is* an odd name - there are plenty of fics that propose that 'The Doctor' is just a codename for The Trio. What with them being DW fans and all.

Date: 2008-05-26 05:17 pm (UTC)You know, the more I think about it, the more I can see Twilight being The Master (from Doctor Who) - a re-generated Master of course, who's given himself super powers. It's a far better fit than any of the other options!

Date: 2008-05-26 03:36 pm (UTC)(It's quite extraordinary how much I don't care about this thing.)
ETA: That said, I didn't look at the spoilery pages. I'd rather wait.

Date: 2008-05-26 04:04 pm (UTC)So I saw as I skimmed. The Dracula thing never fails to make my brain go into pure freefall - every time I try to say to myself 'After Chosen Xander went to stay with Dracula to get over the loss of Anya' my grey matter curls up into tiny balls of hysterical laughter. It just Does Not Compute!

Date: 2008-05-26 04:51 pm (UTC)Also, I don't get why people keep saying Riley had a dislike for magic. I don't recall him ever saying or indicating such a thing.
Connor's the one who disliked magic so much.
So I'm hoping it's not Riley, if only because he's the only one who had a happy ending.
*crosses arms*
(and if they're gonna leave Lindsey dead, then they should leave Riley the hell alone.)

Date: 2008-05-26 05:12 pm (UTC)Of course it is, LOL!
I loved Riley and don't really get why he's so disliked.
Then again, I couldn't stand Kennedy or Eve, so....

Date: 2008-05-26 05:40 pm (UTC)I thought Kate was written well. We always knew what her motives were at any given time and I thought her storyline had been pretty much played out...although I'm glad we now know at least something about what happened to her.
Hmm, the women of Ats.
I liked Fred but I loved Illyria.
Both loved and hated Darla, same with Lilah.
Positively loathed Cordelia.
I would love to find out more of Gwen's story and I found Anne/Chantrelle interesting and would also love to find out what happened to Drusilla.

I liked Fred as well, at least after she got over her crush on Angel. I can see Illyria being very important, and could incorporate more Fred in the comic. Which seems to be happening!

I think they both played the bitches well. They were always enjoyable to watch.
Positively loathed Cordelia.
I hated what they did with Cordelia in season four. I liked her, and thought they ruined her character. I do not want her to come back still, I think they gave her a wonderful send off in Your Welcome

They were all intersting characters, with a lot of story to tell.
