Well I have decided to give a review of the Two Parter "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead". Before you read, a heads up. I enjoyed it, so pretty much a favourable review!
Right, there are problems with River Song, I admit. Then I do not think that she is The Doctor's wife. I do not think the Doctor would ever marry her, or any human. Maybe is is me, but you don't call your husband "Pretty Man" or "Sweety". Maybe a male friend.
So why does The Doctor tell her his name? Because he knows how she dies, how heroic she is in her sacrifice. He no longer has to worry about outliving her, because she has a worthy death. He is not taking away opportunities from her. So the name, because she knows it in this glimpse into her future self. He is maintaining the timeline that he knows about. That is why his eyes look so old when he is with her in the future. She has to fufil her destiny, and he has to let her, no matter what he knows about her future.
One draw-back was I thought Donna was a little short changed in this two parter. I would've liked her to have more imput, but I have a little idea that the vitural marrage will lead up to something. Donna is a determined woman.
Were the Vasta Nerada villians worth two episodes? Yes, and we should be afraid of the dark. They saw humans as prey, and were transported to the Library in the books. Ok not afraid of the Dark, so not sleeping with the light on, but they were good.
Sorry cannot remeber her name, went looking for scripts, but only found a few links to classic Dr Who, but the girl who was very pretty, but not very clever, then she is deformed, but super smart. Didn't like that message. Woman can be either clever or beautiful. No Steve, not keen on that. I mean Martha was beautiful and clever, training to be a doctor, so no not keen on that.
Then overall loved it. So The Doctor tries to give River a little heaven, with friends and a family. If he can, why not. I would if I cared for someone!
I know I took my time!
