Can't Sleep, Rambling
Apr. 6th, 2009 12:25 amI'm not really a fan of writers breaking the 4th Wall in any way. It is rarely done well.
I believe the creators and writers should be the innovators, giving us the canon, myth, character development etc to base the fandom on. Fandom shouldn't influence them, they should influence fandom. I get uncomfortable when they go on messageboards, or take too much interest in fans, and in some cases quite biased and unreasonable, opinions. It ruins a good story, and series.
That being said, if they do break the 4th Wall, then if you have been asking "daring" questions at conventions, have your opinions and preferences on the internet which can be easily found by a quick search, then complaining that the show has outted you isn't right. You have outted yourself.
