Ok, so you know my Doctor is Asexual. Not that he cannot love anyone who isn't a Time Lord, just that that love would be platonic. This of course gets in the way of reading shipper fic with The Doctor. It is so for from my Doctor you wouldn't believe.

I also do not ship Jack/Jack, because I don't see them acting as they did in the programme. If the original Captain Jack had done that in those times, he would've been shot as a coward. Homosexuals were not allowed into the military. Indeed ruined. So I cannot get into any fic with them, cos the whole scernio is flawed to me. I know it was RTD, but still bothers me.

So this takes me on to Characterisation. I never read people doing a Character Studies post any more. Too many times it just is so far away from my own. I believe my Character is canon, but very often find it is not fanon. I think this is why I don't mind OOC characterisation, because even when people think they are being in character it is OOC to me. No I am not about to do any posts on Characterisation, in this case, I shall be in my own little island, but mumbling disgruntled that I do not find fic with my characters.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest!

Well I thought I would make a post to say what the characterisation poll results were. Dispite being recced at [livejournal.com profile] su_herald only 42 people took the poll, and most of them were from my flist. So mostly my friends tastes here! :-)

Anyway if you want to check, the link to the poll is here.

The first one
Characters should have the same attributes as presented in the show, the majority answer (59,1%) was Yes.

Fandom (or fanon) characterisation is the same as canon characterisation, an overwhelming majority (70.5%) thought No.

While the If you are playing with a kink, it is ok to adapt characterisation Maybe was the most popular answer (47.7%) Yes was 31.8 %, while No was 20.5%.

If you are writing AU or AR, you can change characterisation to suit the fic, again Maybe was the most popular answer at 47.7%. In this one Yes was 25%, while No was 27.3%.

What was really intersting was the people who wish to keep characterisation felt the most strongly, enough to leave a comment.

With all the Maybe's seems like people take more on board than characterisation. Can only speculate, but maybe a good story, well written, something they want to read, if a kink, or pairings they want to read. So anyway, that was the results of the poll! Thank You, I hope you had fun!

Was having a chat about characterisation last night to a couple of people, and realised that I don't always use my own idea's on characterisation when writing. In some areas I am quite willing to allow a lot of OOC when I am reading as well. Especially with Angelus and William.

I write Daddy!Kink, and Baby Boy because my friends enjoy it, and use what I consider to be the fandom characterisation for that kink. So even if my Angelus and William the Bloody do not really fit into that, I will quite happily write it anyway, using the general characterisation.

I wondered if anyone else felt the same?
