Fanfic preferences
Jul. 7th, 2009 04:20 pmOk, just a quick poll to see what your preferences are with regard to fanfic. Doing the recs, I was wondering what everyone else likes to read.

After reading through my Friends List, I have just been pondering how Slash can squick some people out. I do understand it, when I first started reading fanfic, after Buffy finished in Season seven I was so much squicked and totally mystified by it. I just couldn't see either the appeal of it, or the relationships working in the show.
I didn't start reading fanfic before Buffy finished, but I wanted more stories, I wanted to keep the characters alive. So when I found Fanfic, every spare moment was spent finding more and reading more. I only read Spuffy at that time, then I saw this summary!
Under The Shield by BuffyWatcher, "Can L.A.'s finest stop a serial killer before he claims one of their own?", with warnings for M/M relationships. I resisted for a while, but it seemed like just my type of story. Until I gave in and read it.
I was surprised to find an affectionate story, little to no graphic sex. Yes it was AU Human, but I loved it, and went on to read the rest of BuffyWatcher or![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

If anyone is interested the VERY first fanfic I read, which was Spuffy, and of course the NC 17 version of "Humanitis" by Saber ShadowKitten is here It is in eight parts, but the next part is found at the bottom of each page. Saber ShadowKitten seems to have gone into the Supernatural fandom now, as it has been added to her website! A link to the website is on my link list at my journal

I must confess, I have "No Future For You" parts 3 and 4, but have not read them. It almost feels like, in Buffy Season 8, if there is something I would HATE to see, that is what happens. I just don't want to read them in case I really do dispise what they do to Faith. I have not read spoilers for them either. I know Bad Buffy Fan, but it is almost as if they are stripping them of everything that I love about the character development, that Geogres Jeanty has drawn them as years younger than they are, and they have made them into malajusted teenagers again. That they have not grown from where they left them, and instead have regressed.
With Faith, if they take away her redemption, and fight to continue it, I may start a bonfire with all the comics in protest! I wish she was with Angel, as that is more of a theme in A:ts.
The past couple of days I have been on a Supernatural kick, watching all of Season One again, even rewatching favourite episodes. Really enjoyed that, but the Wincest is not happening for me at all. I can see the RPS, BIG style, when I see the two actors together, just not the Wincest. Then maybe that is my hang-up!
Been re-reading some favourite fanfic as well. I am word perfect on them, but still keep going back. As it is Christmas, I think I will go and read some more oflilithbint's Christmas stories at The Crypt The Link Is Here.

Little break from Writing

open_on_sunday, I don't think I will be writing much at present. This year has just been a drain, with LJ, Yahoo, and various things going on in the fandom.
I am really excited about the Angel: After the Fall, and finding out, talking about and generally squeeing about that. So my fandom attention is distracted.
Writing fan-fic is not a default setting for me. My fantasy life since I was young was mostly Mary-Sue, with me getting the guy I wanted. So giving him away to anyone else is a bit of work for my muse. At present, I have fallen back to my default setting. So probably only general stuff from me. Not shippy at all. Being very possessive, all for me. No that doesn't mean I will be writing het either.
Just to say this journal will be drabbles, gen stories, comics and RL for a bit. So if only the Shippy stuff interests you, sorry, not for now.
I do know I have Spangel prompts from people, and hopefully, when the muse wants to do fan-fic, I will get them done in the future. No idea when.
