James Marsters annoucement bout staring in "Moonshot" has brought back memories for me. I was eight (James would be about 5), and my mom was looking after my Gran. It was just my dad and me, as it usually was when my Dad was at home (he was working at grangemouth, and stayed at home during the course of that job. Usually we only saw him on weekend in four as he worked away from home as an engineer around the whole of the UK. He was offered a VERY high paid job in Saudi Arabia, but, my mom didn't want to take me there, and he wouldn't go without us...anyway back to the story). It was my dad and me, late morning watching the first moon walk. We were both speechless as we saw humans on the moon, walking, just being there! It was amazing. Really watching a bit of progressive history.
My family, Mom, Dad, Uncles, Sister and Gran lived through history, WWII and in my Gran and uncles case WWI, my mom was a born at the end of WWI, to watch progressive history, something positive like someone walking on the moon Well I know my Dad was awed, so was I. I sat, with my head on my Dad's shoulder, watching a human walk on the moon. *sigh*
We had watched the progress to the moon. We held our breath at them coming back, would they make it, would these men survive. We didn't breath until they were safe.
Thank you for reminding me James. It was a great moment in history I lived through!
