I really do think, to be fair to Joss, before I rant about Season 8, I should make myself clear about Joss and comic writing.

I have enjoyed a few Joss penned comics, Fray, Tales of The Slayers and Tales of The Vampires. I know that Tales of the Slayers, and Tales of The Vampires are an ensemble pieces, but they had some great stories.

I didn't enjoy "Those Left Behind", but have had real problems getting into Firefly. I have never been a fan of X-Men, so haven't read them, or any others by Joss, only the Buffy!Verse ones. But I Did Enjoy Them!

Which is why I am even more annoyed that I am not enjoying the Buffy Season Eight Series. I went into it fully expecting to love it. Hence the expectations of a rant, and my real expectaions that I will not be there for the end (50 issues, yuck).

So how does everyone else feel about Joss and Comics?

I've read Firefly and X-men. Firefly wasn't IMO up to par with the series, and while I enjoyed X-men I got bored with it. I also felt that the characters were off. I think he does his best comic work when he does short pieces, like the TOTS story he did.

I wasn't really impressed with the Firefly one I read, and read Fray as a TPB, so wasn't waiting a long time between issues. I did enjoy Fray, but yes, he does work better in shorter and contained stories.

At times with longer ones, he seems more impressed with what he can do rather than telling a story!

I recently acquired a Buff comic; I'm not quite sure which one but it has Buff, Will & Xander (<3) being held by [probably] a vampire.

it's pretty good.
I'd like to read the one(s) you talk about, though. :)

The ones I have are collected sets in a Trade paper back, so a bit more expensive. Of the three, the one I most enjoyed was Fray, but it is also the most expensive.

Yes, I also like Fray and as a result was really jazzed about S8. I did enjoy it up until this latest issue, but I'm giving it through the end of the year. I don't usually read comics though, which may affect my approach to them.

I only started re-reading comics reciently. So not into the usual system of storytelling.

Fray was excellent, especially as I got it in TPB, and was able to read it all in one sitting.

I will give Season 8 up until the next story arc myself, so that would take me to about the end of the year too.
