Happy to Spike/James in the selection of favorite vampires in tv and movies. Angel/David wasn't even mentioned. That pleased me almost as much. TV Guide selected Buffy/Angel as one of the most romantic couple once and that ticked me off. They sort of made it up to me when they chose the episode of Smashed as the number one sexiest scene on tv. Go James!
I never liked Angel. He was all mystery guy who didn't really help her at the beginning. He drops some hints and let her do all the dangerous stuff. Then when he left for LA, he still seemed to think he was in charge of her life. He had Darla, Cordy and Nina, but still got jealous of Buffy. I never forgave him when he returned after spending a month grieving Buffy's death and then just sort of just let it go. He even told Cordy he was upset he was okay when she asked about his grieving. He was so not the long term guy.
I love reading Spangel as well. It's just in canon that I can't stand Angel. I am Spuffy mostly, but love slash as well. Have to say I was angry with Angel for his treatment of Spike in ATF. He was a jealous wanker about Spike returning and being a hero.
