I am on the Wheldonesque both here and at insane journal....think I just just drop it here. Anyway when I go over to check my friends list on insane journal, most of the posts are from Whedonesque, so I just did!

Ok, I know it is full of blind stupid rabid fans. I know that. Who credit Joss Whedon for creating the universe and everything, and are probably in the process of raising money to build a series of churches to praise his name for the true believers.....But!

It seems that Doctor Who is one of the programmes mentioned as Britian's answer to Buffy! Now overlooking that Doctor Who predates Buffy by decades, where the hell does that bit of blind idiotic claim come from? In what way is Doctor Who in any way like Buffy?

Doctor Who is NOTHING like Buffy!

Well I think it was a good thing. Would the old Doctor Who format of 3,4 or 5 episodes for one storyline worked for the first series of Nu Who? I think people would have switched off in droves. Like Buffy, Nu Who had standalone episodes but there was a season long plot arc.

There's no shame in saying that RTD took aspects from Buffy that worked and applied them successfully to Doctor Who. Whether people like it or not, Joss does cast a long shadow in the genre world. And I would like to think in turn that Joss is influenced by Doctor Who as well. I think he said he would like to lick RTD.

What season long plot arc? What you get it two episodes at the end that are continued. The rest are stand alone. It has become shippy, not good, if that is the continuation in the series, not buying it!

There was the Bad Wolf motif and the rehabilitation of the Doctor, at least that's what I took from the first series.

Yes, that was the first series, but the others? 10/Rose "love" story....big no....10/Martha unrequited love.....big no.

I was never really into the whole shippy aspect of Doctor Who. I thought that Rose should never have been brought back and Doomsday was the perfect ending for that 'ship.
